Most Current Wellness Regulations<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>All families and community members are invited to join our school-wide efforts to promote health and wellness through each school&#8217;s Wellness Team. Teams work to provide fun, educational activities for students and assess outcomes annually by school and <a href=\"https:\/\/foodservices.hallco.org\/web\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/SY24-LWPTriennialAssessmentTool.pdf\">triennially<\/a> system-wide. Community members are welcome to participate in assessments.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"style1\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Impact of School Breakfast on Children\u2019s Health and Learning<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"style1 style2\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A study funded by the Sodexo Foundation reviewed the findings of two decades of scientific research that assessed the value of school breakfast programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"style1\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>Conclusions<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The School Breakfast Program significantly improves the cognitive abilities and learning capacities of children.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">SBP is associated with improved attendance and reduced tardiness.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Eating breakfast improves concentration and alertness of students because they have more energy.\u00a0 Eating complex carbohydrate cereals led to improved mental performance throughout the morning.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Students who receive school breakfast perform better academically compared to those who do not receive school breakfast.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Eating breakfast improves blood glucose levels of children, which improves their comprehension and memory<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Participating in the SBP has been shown to build healthier eating habits among children.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sodexofoundation.org\/hunger_us\/Images\/Impact%20of%20School%20Breakfast%20Study_tcm150-212606.pdf\">Don\u2019t you think it is time to let your child eat breakfast at school?<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"style1\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sodexofoundation.org\/hunger_us\/Images\/Impact%20of%20School%20Breakfast%20Study_tcm150-212606.pdf\">\u00a0<\/a><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"style1\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/templates\/story\/story.php?storyId=101149470\">Deskercise: Staying Jazzed and Focused at School<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">NPR issued this story on Morning Edition on February 26, 2009.
